2020 MLB Opening Day: NY Yankees vs. Washington Nationals July 23, 2020 by Marc Jerbs

On Thursday, the 2020 MLB season officially starts with the opening three-game series against the defending champion Washington Nationals.

Game time is set at 7:08PM EDT and will be played at the Nationals Park.

The Washington National will start the shortened MLB season with most of its rosters from 2019.

3B Anthony Rendon will no longer play for Washington while No. 1 prospect Carter Kieboom will share time manning the infield with veteran Asdrubal Cabrera.

The COVID-19 shutdown enabled the injury ridden New York Yankees to get back to full strength as several of their big bats will now play in the opening day.

The Yankees are poised to score in bunches as against after pacing the 2019 season with 942 runs and 306 home runs.

Newly acquired Gerrit Cole will make his long-awaited debut in the Yankees uniform.

Last season, he led the American League with a 2.50 ERA and led the MLB with 326 strikeouts.

Max Scherzer will take the mound for the Nationals as they look to defend their World Series title.

The three-time CY Young awardee led all National League pitchers with 12.7 strikeouts per inning in 2019.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed the New York Yankees as the favorites to win against the Washington Nationals on Thursday night’ opening season game.
