2016 MLB Season:Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Atlanta BravesAugust 02, 2016 by Marc Jerbs

On Tuesday, the Atlanta Braves will host the Pittsburgh Pirates in a three-game series at Turner Field in Atlanta, GA. The first pitch is set at 7:10PM ET.

The Atlanta Braves is a long shot for this season's playoffs. With a 37-68 record, they are in last place in the NL East. Atlanta started a massive teardown and has rebuild its lineup two years ago, dealing away veteran plays in exchange of young and upcoming players.

Last Saturday, they acquired veteran Matt Kemp as part of their missing piece in their plan to return for contention by 2018. The acquisition of Matt Kemp fills a need in the Braves' lineup. He has three years left in his contract and his salary is partially covered by the Padres and Dodgers.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are still in high hopes to make the postseason for a fourth straight year despite a 52-51 record in the NL Central. Pirates' manager Clint Hurdle is not giving up and knows they still have a chance. Pittsburgh also participated in last minute trades to further bolster their chances.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed the Pittsburgh Pirates as the favorites to beat the Atlanta in the first game of their three-game series on Tuesday night.
