2011 NBA Western Conference Semifinals Game 2:Los Angeles Lakers vs.
Dallas MavericksMay 04, 2011 by Marc Jerbs

On Wednesday, the defending champion LA Lakers will try to level the series against the Dallas Mavericks at one game a piece in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals. Game 2 will be at Staples Center and starts at 10:30PM ET.

The Dallas Mavericks proved to be a hard nut to crack after the LA Lakers erected a 16-point lead in the 2nd half. However, the Mavericks were a resilient bunch of NBA players led by Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd and Jason Terry. They manage to trim the lead and eventually held on to win Game 1. Dirk Nowitzki was clutch during the final minutes of the game while Jason Kidd stood his ground while defending Kobe Bryant during the Laker's final two offensive set.

Team Mavericks must continue to show resiliency and good defense to have a chance to win Game 2. They let Kobe Bryant do his game but they were able to contain the Lakers' big front led by Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom.

The Lakers need to adjust on what the Mavericks thrown at them in Game 1. Kobe Bryant can't do it alone and carry the scoring cudgels in the 4th quarter. Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum must step in produce big numbers and rebounds in the inside lane. They could also mix a perimeter offense with Derek Fisher and Kobe Bryant.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed the LA Lakers a 7-point favorite to win Game 2 against the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs will try to outplay again the Lakers and have a 2-0 series under their belts.
